Our Activities

Activities are the limbs of the Institution and our College is busy in keeping many student oriented activities for the students. Special Guest Lecturers from the Experts in various fields (i.e. from Industries and Management) are organised to enhance our student's skill set.

Extension Activities:

It is a tradition of this College to convince the faculty members for their role as social worker in addition to the role as a teacher. Since inception of the College, many teachers are actively participating in different social and cultural activities at local / state and national levels. The means of such participation are social clubs, NGO's, GO's, Student Organizations and Political Organizations. Ex-Principal of this College, Late Shri. Y. S. Mahajan (Bar-at-Law, London School of Economics), was a Member of Parliament for five terms.

Incentives given to outstanding sports persons. The incentives and facilities that are provided to promising and outstanding sport persons are as under –

  • While granting admission to the College, preference is given to the promising and outstanding players.
  • Prizes are also distributed among the outstanding players in different games at the end of the academic year.
  • Arrangements are made for reorganization of missed practical, tests and tutorials for the players.
  • Facilities like Tracksuit are offered to prominent players.
  • ·With the support of Sports Authority of India, the facility of special coaching by expert coaches is provided

Health Services:

  • Medical Checkup is conducted for all the first year Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Hostel students.
  • It is a recurring feature of the College.
  • Eminent doctors of the city volunteer their services for such medical checkup.
  • First Aid facility is available at Gymkhana, Administrative Office, Humanity Building, Commerce Building, Hostels, Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics and Department of Life Sciences.
  • A special panel of doctors has been formed to take care of emergencies in hostels.
  • Occasionally, the special drive was taken to convince the teaching and non-teaching staff to undergo medical checkup including lipid profile

Foundation for Excellence -
The Foundation for Excellence (FFE) is a non-profit organization based in California Silicon Valley. Its objective is to bring about a meaningful transformation in the lives of the bright students in India facing financial hardships. FFE assists the bright and promising students who are not in a position to meet their educational expenses because of their poor financial conditions.

Social Group - G-30 -
A local social group known as "G-30", consists of leading doctors, lawyers, industrialists and contractors. This group provides frequent financial assistance to the needy students as and when required. Principal A. G. Rao is a member of this group. He co-ordinates this activity.

Assistance from Life Science Department  -
In addition to specific schemes, as mentioned above, efforts are made by Principal, Vice Principals and teachers to arrange for need based financial support to poor students.

Student Support Services:
Assessment of Students:
College has provided for a special methodology for assessing students’ knowledge and skills. Teachers assess the student's knowledge and skills for particular program after admission through personal dialogue and discussion. Some faculty members have evolved their individual techniques for this purpose, with an intention to identify: i. Overall level of the class and ii. Slow and advance learners. To set the level of teaching-learning process, the College has introduced formal diagnostic tests based on the previous studies.

Bridge/ remedial courses:
The College provides bridge/ remedial courses to the educationally disadvantaged students. The College conducts remedial courses for slow learners and students from weaker section. During 2002, the College has received a special grant of Rs. 3,00,000/- from UGC for conducting remedial courses for reserved category students. This sanction can be termed as the reward of efforts taken by the College in this field. In addition to regular teachers, some retired teachers and senior faculty members of other institutions are also invited to provide their services for successful implementation of this scheme.

Support for Bright Students:
Special efforts are taken to identify sharp students. Previous academic record, participation in classroom discussion and testing through special questions and such other techniques are used for this purpose. With a view to identify and arouse the latent potential within self and to create an urge to strive for excellence, a special endeavor for advanced learners is made through following ways and means:

  • Providing more library facilities through which additional reading material and references are made available.
  • Giving encouragement to participate in conferences, seminars and workshops.
  • Giving special exposure during organization of State / National Conferences through volunteering their services for anchoring, reporting, escorting and interacting with the scholars.
  • Inducing them to participate in Educational Fairs, Exhibitions, and Quiz Contests.
  • Providing additional facilities of Computer and Internet, thereby inducing such students to use audio-visual aids and multimedia.
  • Encouraging for project work instead of theory paper and conducting surveys.
  • Promoting activities like role-playing.
  • Providing special career guidance and counseling.

A separate coaching centre for competitive examinations have been established by the College located in the Humanities Building. A separate committee comprising of senior teachers and experts have been framed. The guidance is made available regularly to the students to appear for various competitive examinations such as M.P.S.C., U.P.S.C., Bank Officer’s examinations, NET and SET examinations. Up-to-date reading material such as books and periodicals are made available.

N.C.C.:
National Cadet corp. (N.C.C.) of 250 male cadets attached to 18th Maharashtra Bn. And 50 Female cadets attached to 4th Maharashtra Bn. Our cadet have maintained a tradition of good representation at RD pared in good number every year.

N.S.S.:
National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) where 250 students are actively engaged in community welfare activities like blood donation, campus cleanness and beautification, shram dan, vysan mukti abhiyan etc.

Open Theatre:
We take keen interest in personaity development of our students by organising various through Art Circle, Debating Union, Elocution, Planning Forum, Yuvati Sabha, CDI Project (Ford Foundation), Youth Parliament, Annual Social gathering, and many such projects.

Scholarships and Freeship:
Earn and Learn scheme Scholarship, Freeship and many of the students who avail this facility are holding good position in Government Departments / Institutions and Status in Society.

Study Tours and Excursions
Educational tours are arranged for students faculty-wise and department-wise every year to various well known Institutes and Industries of India. The objective behind arranging such type of study tours is to give the students practical exposure and the platform and opportunity to gain and exchange knowledge and ideas. It helps the students to broaden their hozizons and develop a pro-active, professional and versatile approach to face the challenges of this rapidly changing complex world.

Quality Circle:
Quality circle has been established in college with a view to bring out qualitative improvement in college. This circle visits various sections and departments of college with an endeavor to find out chances of betterment in the performance. Open meetings of quality circle are arranged.

Internet Facility for Students:
The college has full-fledged computer with the facility of internet connections. Students are given access to use internet from 5.00 pm. to 11.00 pm. Every day at cost.

Industrial Liaison Programme:
The college undertakes 'Industrial Liaison Programme' under which students of commerce and professional courses visit local industries for intership and practical work. This progrmme provides vocational guidance and professional awareness to the students.

Personality Development:
Extra curricular activities through various committees such as Arts circle, Debating Committee, Elocution committee, Yuvati sabha, Inter-collegiate Drama festival, Sahitya mandal and MPSC Examination guidance etc. are continuously organize in college. These committees provide platform and opportunities to students for their overall development.

Co-Operative Consumer Store:
Co-Operative Consumer Store is run for the staff and the students. Stationary, Laboratory, Journals and articles of daily use are available in store. Tutorial sheets, Answer books for internal examination and practical journals must be purchased from store only.

Earn and Learn Scheme:
College provides financial assistance to economically weak students through unique scheme. Such have to work for specific hours a day for which they are paid. It helps in developing work culture and self esteem.

English Proficiency:
Every year, English proficiency courses is organized by the department of English. The trust area of the course is English grammar and composition, as well as Communication skill.

Book Bank Facility:
It's a tradition of college to run a Book Bank scheme with the help of Local, Social Organizations and Clubs like 'Rotary Club'. Every year, Rotary Club, Jalgaon donate Books worth Rs. 12,000 under this scheme. These books are distributed to needy students of the college on returnable basis.

Works Experience Scheme:
Works Experience Scheme is a novel idea conceptualized by the college and later on accepted by North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. Under this scheme, the undergraduate students of faculty of commerce are accept to work in Small Scale Industries, Co-operative Societies and Business Enterprises and in the office of professional like charted accountants, Tax Practitioners, Lawyers. The student is supposed to maintain a diary for Work Experience he gets during training. he has to present a report and undergoes viva-voce examination on the basis of which a certificate is awarded by the University.

Teacher Guardian Scheme:
For facilitating more interaction with students, a specially formed "Teacher Guardian Scheme" is implemented by the faculty of Commerce \ specific number of students from the faculty is allotted to each Teacher who act as Guardian / care taker to these students.

IMPACT :
Dr. G.D. Bendale State level Software Competition Cum Exhibition. Under PEC(Physics, Electronics & Computer) forum Department of Computer Science and Information Technology organizes Dr. G. D. BendaleState level Software Competition Cum Exhibition every year to motivate students, to think and work in group and make a cohesive and effective presentation of their talent so that their mental horizons will be broaden and they will be ready for global competency.

Mooljians Saturday Club :
Mooljian's Saturday Club is an unique activity run by the students for the students under the able guidance of their teachers, every Saturday. A special committee consisting of the Co-ordinator, senior teachers and students is formed. This committee manages different activities of the club. Under the Saturday Club we have activities like debates, group discussions, presentations, seminars, role playing, elocution and so on.

Remedial Teaching :
Remedial Teaching is regularly arranged for the students of Professional Courses to get them familiarized to various new subjects by teaching them the basic fundamentals so that learning becomes an easy task in various subjects like Communicative English Fundamentals of Accounting, etc. by keeping certain objectives at center remedial coaching is conducted for less competent students in the respective subjects.

Continuous Assessment :
We believe that continuous assessment and evaluation of the students is essential for achieving the objective of quality education. Periodical Tests, Tutorials, Home assignments, Seminars, Group Discussion, Presentations and Mid-seminar tests are the methods which are used for assessing the student continuously. The performance of students in extra-curricular activity, co-curricular activities and extension activities is also judge and recorded.
